Planting the Color of the Summer
A list curated for the perfect butter yellow pollinator flower garden.
We know the Pantone color of the year is Mocha Mousse. This could prove a tricky color to orchestrate a garden theme around. Good news is, we've heard the more popular alternative is none other than butter yellow!
To create this creamy, sunlit summer garden, I've curated a list of native and noninvasive plants that would thrive in our Mid-Atlantic zone 7 climate. Start with yellow coneflowers (Echinacea paradoxa) and Moonbeam (Coreopsis verticillata). Then mix in yarrow (Achillea millefolium) and our Maryland State flower, black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) for beautiful flower coverage. Coral Bells can add texture while tall sunflowers in the back provide dimension and height. Together you will have a butter yellow pollinator powerhouse!
